Covid-19 Vaccination

There are currently plans from the HSE to distribute Covid Vaccination via GP surgeries to patients aged 70 years and over.

It is anticipated that this rollout will begin ~ Tuesday 2nd March 2021.

We will begin we are over 85 age pateints first.

You do not need to ring the surgery, we will contact you once we confirm our delivery date.

This is entirely dependant on the availabilty of supply from the manufacturers.
Due to this uncertainty it is unlikely that the initial deliveries will be sufficient to cover all over 70s in the first instance. 
Therefore a hierarchy has been determined by the HSE.

The vaccine will first be offered to those aged 85 and over, then to those aged 80-84 years and so on as supply becomes available.

Age is the only criteria for vaccine distribution in this phase of the rollout as determined by the government.

Patients in the over 70 category

• can only receive the vaccine from their GMS registered GP (since all over 70's have entitlement to at least a GP visit card). the vaccine will not be available from pharmacies or other GPs than your own

• it is important therefore that if you have recently turned 70 or do not already have a medical or doctor visit card that you register for one as soon as possible

It is also important to note that there is no 'List' / 'Waiting List' for vaccination.

Once the practice receives vaccines we will able to know how many of the initial cohort we are able to deliver it to. Further details will be announced when this information is known.
